Biography

Claudine Helou is an attorney-at-law admitted to Beirut Bar Association, who specializes in international dispute resolution, and particularly in international commercial arbitration.

Claudine regularly serves as a counsel, arbitrator and legal expert in ad hoc and institutional, domestic and international arbitrations encompassing a broad spectrum of subject-matters as varied as Construction, Real Estate, Oil and Gas, Investment, Banking and Finance, Corporate and securities, Telecommunications, Intellectual Property, Power and Energy, domestic and cross-border Mergers and Acquisitions, International Sales and general commercial disputes, conducted under a variety of laws and arbitration rules.

She has successfully resolved a number of high-value complex cases within the MENA Region either by arbitration, negotiation or mediation and has counseled local, regional and multinational clients from various sectors across different jurisdictions and covering a wide range of industries.
Claudine also handles large-scale litigations mostly with international ramifications including inter alia those connected with international commercial law, bankruptcy, banking, public-private relationships and the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards.
She served on a number of working groups on the revision of international arbitration rules including the working group on the revision of UNCITRAL arbitration rules and the ICC commission on Arbitration and ADR on the revision of the ICC Arbitration rules.

She is listed on the panel of arbitrators of various arbitration associations including Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC), the Cairo Regional Center for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA), the DIFC-LCIA Arbitration Centre, the Swiss Arbitration Association (ASA), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS/TAS).

Claudine serves on the Board of directors of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb- Lebanon) , is a member of the ICC Arab Arbitration Group and the Lebanese National Committee, the London Court of International Arbitration’s Arab Users’ Council, the European Court of Arbitration and Mediation, the International Bar Association’s Arbitration committee, Arab Regional Forum and Women Lawyers Interest Group.
She wrote various articles, taught seminars on international law organized by different international organizations including the World Bank and has spoken at conferences on many topics in international arbitration and dispute resolution.

Claudine handles cases, renders awards and pleads in English, French and Arabic languages.
