Mutasem was born in Jordan in 1976. He attended the University of Jordan and graduated with a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering in 1999. He then moved to the United Kingdom and gained an MBA from the University of Huddersfield in 2000. He started his career in Jordan as a university lecturer, teaching Industrial Engineering modules and Operations Research.
In 2001 he joined a telecom operator in Jordan-Amman working in the supply chain department. He moved to Dubai-United Arab Emirates in 2006 and joined a telecom operator and was handling the logistics, distribution and warehousing. He became a Logistics and Distribution Director in 2009 and worked until 2011. In mid-2011 he left the telecom industry and joined Schlumberger in different locations and prior to joining GE, he was the Procurement and Sourcing Manager for Schlumberger in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. In that role, he led the largest sourcing team for Schlumberger worldwide achieving excellent savings that positively reflected on the company’s performance. In 2014, he joined GE Oil & Gas as MENAT Sourcing and Logistics Leader, based in Dubai-UAE.
In Nov 2015, Mutasem took a new role in GE O&G, as MENAT Operations Leader, leading eight functions (Sourcing & Localization, Material Management, Logistics, Quality, EHS, Manufacturing, Projects and Facilities). In this role, Mutasem and his team work with all the GE O&G businesses across the region, as partners and supporting functions to deliver operational excellence and value for GE and customers.
In July 2017 and after the integration between GE O&G and Baker Hughes, under the new company BHGE, Mutasem took the role of MENAT and India Chief Operations Officer, leading the Supply Chain organization for BHGE in the region.
Mutasem likes motorbiking, walking and traveling. He loves spending time in his farm in Jordan along with his family and friends.
