Captain Hesham El-Hamahmy

He was born and bred in Sydney, Australia where he has lived most of his life. In 1997, he graduated with a Bachelors in Aviation from University of Newcastle along with his Commercial Pilots License from the University’s Flying School. Later on he completed his Master’s Degree in Aviation Safety Management and commenced his Doctorate degree in the same field. During his academic career, he was a Human Factors and Crew Resource Management Lecturer.
In 2000, he moved to Egypt due to the fascinating culture and history, and he later joined Petroleum Air Services as a Helicopter Pilot and shortly afterwards became their Helicopter Flight Safety Officer. He has been with them now over 10 years and is type rated on Bell 206, Bell 212 and 412 with nearly 4000 hours of Helicopter Experience.
He has actively presented in many International Safety Conferences including the recent ICAO Heliport Seminar and represented the MENA Region at the International Helicopter Safety Team Conference. He has successfully implemented IOSA Certification and achieved a ZERO SMS finding result. He enjoys his flying and work in the field of Safety Management – where he considers every day is a safety challenge.
